Kieran Tierney has taken to Instagram to thank Celtic supporters after a good afternoon at Pittodrie, which saw him battle illness to help his side to a 2–0 win over Aberdeen.
The Hoops defender, who returned to the club this summer, posted on Sunday night: “Great win today, thank you for the support.” It was a simple but heartfelt message from the returning defender.
Tierney’s words came after a match in which he played a vital role, setting up the first goal for Nygren and settling nerves on the day. Brendan Rodgers later revealed the Scotland international had been sick in the dressing room at half-time but insisted on starting the second period before eventually being replaced by Auston Trusty.

New signing Benjamin Nygren opened the scoring in the 27th minute, finishing clinically from Tierney’s low cross. The visitors dominated possession and territory, pinning Aberdeen back and limiting them to half-chances.
Any hopes of a Dons comeback were extinguished shortly after the restart when Reo Hatate unleashed a thunderous strike from just outside the box, the ball clipping the bar on its way into the net. It was a goal worthy of sealing the points, and it allowed Celtic to see out the match in complete control.
The win keeps Rodgers’ men perfect after two league games and pushes them four points clear of Rangers in the early Premiership standings. It also provided a measure of revenge after Aberdeen’s Scottish Cup final triumph on penalties back in May.
Kieran has quickly re-established himself as a fans’ favourite, not only for his attacking threat down the left but for his willingness to play through discomfort for the badge. His post-match Instagram message underlined that connection — a nod to the travelling support who roared the team to victory in the Granite City.
With his health confirmed to be improving, Tierney will now turn his focus to maintaining Celtic’s early momentum. Judging by the reaction to his post, the Celtic faithful will be right behind him every step of the way.
