“Bizarre… Ridiculous” – Sutton Slams Celtic’s Transfer Window Stalemate

Chris Sutton has launched another blistering assessment of Celtic’s summer transfer business, admitting he would be “absolutely sickened” if he were in Brendan Rodgers’ position right now.

The former Celtic striker believes the club’s lack of urgency in the market is both baffling and unacceptable, given the demands on the manager and squad this season.

The Sky Sports pundit isn’t one to shy away from giving his opinion, and has been pretty vocal over the past month or so. He just calls it as it is, and it’s hard to disagree with him.

Sutton’s fear is that all this leads to Brendan Rodgers leaving, and at the moment, you really wouldn’t blame him.

ON Friday, he admitted that there were no imminent transfers, and he was unsure whether there would be any new faces for the Champions League qualifier playoff round, which would see Celtic play three games in six days and a Glasgow Derby at Ibrox.

Writing in the Daily Record, Sutton put himself into Rodgers’ boots:

“I find the entire situation, at best, bizarre. At worst, it is just ridiculous at this stage of the window.

“Now, I’m going to caveat my next statements with two things. “One: Rodgers has made it clear that no-one really and truly knows what he is thinking inside apart from himself.

“And two: Celtic still have time to make enough quality signings to satisfy the manager’s wishes before the deadline on September 1.

“But, as I look at this from the outside, I can only see one outcome if this transfer situation isn’t properly addressed quickly.

“If Celtic aren’t going to show the ambition to match the manager before this window closes, I’d say you needn’t bother talking about extending contracts because it’ll be done. All over. Terminado.

“All I can do is try and put myself into Rodgers’ shoes. If it was me, I know I’d be absolutely sickened at how this is all going.”

Rodgers has already voiced his frustration at the situation, admitting he is bored of discussing transfers while the squad remains short in key areas. But, whether he liked it or not, this transfer chat isn’t going away anytime soon.
