Taylor’s contract expired at Celtic, and speculation swirled for much of the season. Dynamo Zagreb and Copenhagen, among others, showed interest, but it was PAOK that ultimately won the race. After long talks and fanfare, he opted for a move to Greece, ending a career in Glasgow.
Celtic, meanwhile, have acted swiftly to fill gaps. Kieran Tierney’s return was secured with a pre-contract deal back in January, but Rodgers remained keen to add another left-back. Japan’s Inamura has since arrived, and initial talk of an immediate loan has quietened after the player impressed during pre-season. Rodgers may now ponder keeping him in the squad.
Meanwhile, interest in Jeffrey Schlupp – who spent the last six months of last season at Celtic on loan – appears to have faded.
Celtic are closing in on the start of the season and have just two friendlies left. The first comes against Ajax on Thursday in the Como Cup. Celtic will then play Como or Al Hilal of Saudi Arabia at the weekend.
