Shin Yamada Breaks Silence on Celtic Move

Shin Yamada looks poised for a move from Kawasaki Frontale to Celtic in a deal reportedly worth £1.5 million.

Reports in Japan suggest the deal has been given the green light and that the 25‑year‑old forward will soon travel to Glasgow once his duties with Japan at the E‑1 Championship conclude.

Yamada has remained tight‑lipped over the move, refusing to explicitly confirm Celtic as his next destination. But the wide‑ranging reports suggest the Glasgow club are keen to bolster their attacking options ahead of the new campaign.

At 25, Yamada is entering his prime. Celtic are understood to be seeking a forward with pace and drive off the shoulder of the last defender, and the Japan international’s goal return in the J‑League, plus his work ethic, seem to tick those boxes.

He said: (Livedoor News), “I want to show my difference in terms of goals and in the way I fight. I think the competition will be fierce, and I feel that there is little time if that is for Kawaski or overseas.

“I’m pushing forward a lot in preparation for the World Cup, but I think there will be times when I’m pushed back, so I think I can make a difference by connecting goals to those, so I hope I can do that.”

If Yamada joins, he would add a fresh dimension to Celtic’s frontline. His strength lies in high work‑rate pressing, intelligent movement and an eye for goal.

Celtic fans will watch closely to see if Yamada can adapt to the physicality and tempo of Scottish football. The Hoops’ recent history with players from Asia has been mixed; adaptability, language and climate are factors to weigh in.

A good spell at Celtic could help Yamada become a regular starter for both his club and the national team. His comments show he’s up for the fight, ready to work hard when things get tough and chip in with important goals.

If the deal and medical checks go through quickly, Yamada might land in Glasgow next week. Signing him would show Celtic are serious about adding more quality and options up front as they look to compete at home and in Europe.
