Jeffrey Schlupp is weighing up his next move after leaving Crystal Palace, and his short spell at Celtic appears to have put him firmly on the radar of clubs down south.
The former Ghana international joined Celtic on loan in January to bolster Brendan Rodgers’ squad. Brought in as emergency cover on the left after Alex Valle’s departure, Schlupp slotted into the side with minimal fuss and brought a wealth of experience with him.

While he didn’t grab headlines every week, the 32-year-old was a steady performer who gave Rodgers more flexibility across defence and midfield. He featured in key matches during Celtic’s push for the league title and even chipped in with a goal and an assist before the season wrapped.
Now out of contract following his Palace exit, the left-back is attracting interest from the English Championship. RecordSport reports that Derby County, Hull City, West Brom and Sheffield Wednesday are all keen to bring him in this summer.
West Brom, in particular, are believed to be pushing hard, with new boss Ryan Mason said to be keen on adding Schlupp’s know-how and versatility to his squad ahead of the new campaign.

There had been some speculation over whether Celtic might pursue a permanent deal, especially after some strong performances early in his loan spell. However, his form dipped significantly towards the end of the season, and with the club looking elsewhere in the transfer market this summer, a return to the Hoops now looks unlikely.
Schlupp’s time in Glasgow was brief, and while he didn’t make a major impact, his experience and versatility were clear to see. With several English clubs now circling, a move looks likely to come soon as sides view him as a low-risk option who can fill a number of roles.
