Celtic Transfer Target Branded ‘Dream Signing’

Superliga expert David Boysen has heaped praise on Benjamin Nygren amid Celtic’s move to sign the Swedish forward.

The 23-year-old is regarded as one of the standout players in the Danish Superliga and Nygren has carved out a key role for himself at Nordsjælland, showing significant growth in recent seasons after a challenging spell earlier in his career.

Celtic are now in the final stages of sealing the transfer, with Mark Hendry reporting on Substack that a deal has been agreed between the clubs.

Boysen’s assessment carries weight, with the former Danish top‑flight winger speaking enthusiastically about Nygren’s development, mentality and all-round quality. His opinion offers a deeper look into what kind of player Celtic are getting, one who has embraced pressure and responsibility to raise his game.

He said: (RecordSport), “I think Benjamin Nygren (would have) been a dream signing for both Brøndby and FC Copenhagen, and it is close to me also adding FC Midtjylland.

“He is a class player who can fill many roles. There are some players who rise under responsibility and you can see that with Benjamin Nygren, who has become team captain.

“He has previously complained that he has not played enough in FC Nordsjælland, and it has helped him because he has been given a big role.

“I think he is absolutely fantastic and scores goals in all sorts of different ways, and he has also scored in his national team debut.”

Nygren’s career hasn’t always been straightforward, but he’s shown strong character to turn things around. A lack of minutes earlier on could’ve held him back, but instead, he’s used it as motivation, putting himself in a position to now make the move to Celtic.

Celtic’s recruitment team seem to have acted quickly and smartly, with the transfer fee low enough to make it a safe gamble. Nygren has solid technical ability and is growing into a leadership role, which suits the type of player the club looks for.

If the deal is completed, Brendan Rodgers would have another option in the frontline someone who can play both out wide and through the middle. His flexibility and determination to keep improving are exactly what Celtic need going into the new season.
