Celtic have taken a step forward in their pursuit of Nordsjælland attacker Benjamin Nygren, with reports indicating the club have been given the green light to open formal transfer discussions.
Nygren, who has just six months remaining on his current deal in Denmark, has been on Celtic’s radar for some time.

Early reports suggested it could take £2 million to sign him, despite his contract running down. However, the fee may now come in below that figure.
According to Danish outlet Tipsbladet, Nordsjælland are prepared to sanction the 23-year-old’s departure for 15 million Danish Kroner. The equivalent of just £1.7 million, £300,000 lower than the previous figure reported.

With a modest fee being quoted for a player of Nygren’s potential, Celtic see an opportunity to add further depth to Brendan Rodgers’ attacking options ahead of what will be a crucial season both domestically and in Europe.
The club will now look to advance talks as they weigh up whether to meet Nordsjælland’s asking price or attempt to negotiate further, given the player’s contract situation and desire to move.
