Ross Doohan is making his senior Scotland debut tonight as he starts in goal against Liechtenstein just days after being drafted into the squad as emergency cover.

The 27-year-old, who is expected to rejoin Celtic this summer following his departure from Aberdeen, was only called up at the weekend after injuries to Angus Gunn and Robbie McCrorie left Steve Clarke short of options. With Cieran Slicker enduring a tough debut in the defeat to Iceland, Clarke has handed Doohan his first cap.

It caps off a remarkable few days for the goalkeeper, who looks set to fill the third-choice role at Parkhead next season behind Kasper Schmeichel and Viljami Sinisalo, replacing Scott Bain after his move to Falkirk.
Anthony Ralston also starts tonight’s match, with the Celtic right-back continuing his run of involvement at international level.
One man missing from the team sheet is Kieran Tierney. The returning Celtic defender was forced to withdraw from the squad after picking up an injury following the Iceland match. The issue isn’t thought to be serious, but with pre-season on the horizon, Tierney won’t be risked.
For Doohan, though, it’s a landmark night. His first senior cap and nod to his form this season when he had to step in for the Dons.
