Celtic marked Johnny Kenny’s birthday on social media this morning but then quickly deleted the post, leaving fans scratching their heads.

The forward turned 22 today, and the club’s official channels initially acknowledged the occasion, as they often do with current squad members. However, the post was taken down not long after it went up. No explanation has been given.
Kenny has enjoyed a breakthrough few weeks in the first team, scoring his first senior goal for the club in last month’s 5-1 win over Aberdeen at Pittodrie. It was also his first start for the Hoops, capping a milestone night with a composed finish.
He then featured in the dramatic Scottish Cup final against the same opposition, coming off the bench to calmly slot home his penalty during the shootout. He was one of just three Celtic players to find the net from the spot, sending Dimitar Mitov the wrong way with a tidy strike.
With uncertainty around the club’s attacking options going into the summer window, Kenny’s recent contributions could put him in contention for more regular involvement in 2025/26. That said, the decision to pull his birthday message has only added a layer of intrigue over his status within the squad.
Whether it was a simple error or something more deliberate, it remains to be seen what lies ahead for the young Irishman at Celtic Park.
