Celtic have received a potential boost in their efforts to sign Guingamp midfielder Kalidou Sidibe, with the French club’s manager admitting the towering player could be on the move this summer.

The 6ft 7in Paris-born midfielder, who came through the youth ranks at Paris Saint-Germain, is entering the final year of his contract with Ligue 2 side Guingamp. With no new deal yet agreed, interest in the 26-year-old is building across Europe, and Celtic are believed to be among the clubs keeping close tabs on his situation.
Sidibe is valued at around £ 1.7 million and has attracted attention from a host of clubs. Ipswich Town are reportedly monitoring developments, while PSV Eindhoven, Toulouse, and Swiss outfit Grasshoppers have also been credited with interest.
Guingamp manager Sylvain Ripoll has addressed the growing speculation around Sidibe’s future, admitting that both the player and the club may be open to parting ways — provided the terms are right for all involved.
“I’d hope so, but I’m not fooled either,” he told Le Telegramme
“They probably want to see what’s going on there.
“They only have one year left on their contracts.
“As long as their interests are protected, the club will listen.
“So there must be the requests the players want and the club must be protected.
“But if they stay with us, I would be very happy.”
While Sidibe is under contract until summer 2026, Ripoll seems prepared to consider offers in order to avoid losing the midfielder for nothing next year.
Brendan Rodgers is expected to oversee a squad refresh this summer, with potential midfield departures likely to shape the club’s recruitment priorities. Sidibe’s contract situation, coupled with his physical attributes and experience in France, makes him a name to watch as Celtic prepare for a busy off-season.
