Rennes Chief Leaves Four Months After Kyogo Arrival

Frederic Massara has left his role as Sporting Director at Rennes, just 10 months after taking the job. The French club announced that they and Massara had agreed to part ways after the final game of their league season. This news comes at a time when Kyogo Furuhashi’s future at Rennes is already in serious doubt.

Massara was the man who pushed for Rennes to sign Kyogo from Celtic in January. Rennes paid £10 million to bring the Japanese striker to France. But things have gone badly since the transfer. Kyogo has made only six appearances and hasn’t scored a single goal for the club. The move has not worked out for either side so far.

To make things worse for Kyogo, the manager who signed him, Jorge Sampaoli, was sacked just three days after the striker arrived. That change unsettled everything. A new manager came in, and Kyogo has not had a regular place in the team. He’s spent more time on the bench than on the pitch.

Without Massara and with Kyogo not playing, many people are wondering if he’ll leave Rennes this summer. A return to Celtic has been mentioned many times. Fans still talk about his time in Glasgow, where he scored goals, won trophies, and was one of the most exciting players in the league.

But Kyogo’s return is not impossible. If Rennes decide to let him go, Celtic might see a chance to bring him back, especially if the price is right.

Rennes might also want to move on. With Massara gone and Kyogo not playing, they may feel it’s best to cut their losses. Kyogo’s future is up in the air. But with Celtic fans keeping a close eye and the club possibly looking for a new striker next season, a return might just be on the cards.
