Motherwell’s Lead Development Coach and former Rangers defender Richard Foster has slammed Lennon Miller’s potential summer move to Celtic, with Foster expressing his unhappiness at the thought of Miller ending up in the green and white hoops next season.
Foster, who played for Rangers over two spells, couldn’t help but attempt to pour cold water on Miller joining the Scottish Premiership champions. The young Scottish midfielder has been consistently linked with a move to Celtic, and there seems to be some substance to the rumours of a potential summer move.

With Celtic likely to test Motherwell’s resolve, Foster explained what he hopes Miller will decide to do next in his career. Interestingly, he didn’t mention Rangers, who seemingly won’t be able to afford the Motherwell youngster.
He said: (the Go Radio Football Show), “I spoke to his dad a couple of weeks back and, you know, he’s very, very tight-lipped, keeps his cards close to his chest and so he should.
“I hope he leaves Scotland. I hope he leaves Britain. I don’t want him to go down to England at this point in his career.
“I don’t want him to stay in, you know, only Celtic in Scotland could afford him. With all due respect to Celtic, I don’t want him to go there.”

Foster seemingly doesn’t like the idea of Miller joining Celtic, and while he would add something extra to the Hoops’ midfield, the challenge would be whether he would start week in, week out. However, as Luke McCowan has shown this season, even if you’re not starting every week, you can still play a huge role.
At 18, Miller is an unbelievable talent, and even having captained Motherwell at stages this season is exactly what Celtic need—a young, talented player to transform the midfield. He could follow in Callum McGregor’s footsteps, starting further forward and potentially moving deeper when he decides he wants to.
While others may not want to see Miller join Celtic due to concerns about his development, but given Miller’s potential, he would be a player signed to play his part immediately. He may not start every week, but he would contribute and learn from the very best in the country.
