Marco Tilio Breaks Silence on Celtic Future

Celtic loanee Marco Tilio has answered questions about where he sees his future in a year’s time. With the 2026 World Cup just over a year away, the Australian is eyeing a place in the Socceroos squad.

However, there are doubts over his Celtic future, having made just two competitive appearances during his time in Glasgow. A combination of injuries and falling out of favour under Brendan Rodgers has played a major part.

Despite the setbacks, Tilio made it clear that he doesn’t see his future in Australia, having joined Melbourne City on loan earlier this season.

He said: (Optus Sport), “I’d hope to be saying I’ll be playing consistently over in Europe, I’d like to say.

“We’ll see. But yeah, that’s where my head’s at.”

Tilio has impressed on his return to Australia, although moving from the A-League back to Scottish football will undoubtedly be a challenge. With Brendan Rodgers previously discussing signing a winger instead of a new striker in the summer, it remains to be seen whether Tilio has any future under the Irishman.

Tilio has proven himself time and time again in his homeland, but things have yet to go to plan for him in Scotland. He has struggled to meet the standards required to make squads following his return from injury.

If he does leave Celtic in the summer, he would go with everyone’s best wishes — but if he stays, there’s clearly still a player in there, provided he works hard to prove himself to Rodgers and the club.
