Brendan Rodgers and Barry Ferguson were spotted shaking hands in the stands at Firhill during the Glasgow Cup final between Celtic and Rangers’ youth teams. It was a calm moment between the two before they face each other as managers later this week in the last Glasgow Derby of the season at Ibrox.
The young Celtic side lost on penalties after a dramatic game. Rangers scored first, but Rhys Dargie pulled Celtic level just before half-time.

The second half saw 16 minutes of injury time because of injuries, but no more goals came. Rangers would then win 5-4 in the penalty shootout.

Ferguson is in charge at Rangers until the end of the season, and did oversee the last Derby win at Celtic Park. That recent form in the Glasgow Derby adds extra edge to the upcoming game, even with the Premiership already wrapped up by Celtic. Rodgers will be determined to halt Rangers’ momentum in these games and send a message ahead of the summer.

Celtic sealed the title last weekend in emphatic style, hammering Dundee United 5-0 at Tannadice. That win was part of a blistering run, with Rodgers’ side scoring 15 goals across their last three matches, including five in each game, and conceding just once. It’s the kind of form needed to walk into Ibrox and leave with three points.
With no trophies left to play for against Rangers, Rodgers will still want to lay down a marker and make sure Celtic finish this season’s derby battles on top. A win at Ibrox would answer any lingering questions about how his side sets up against Rangers and leave no doubt about who leads the way in Glasgow.
