CM Punk Reacts to ‘Amazing’ Celtic Park Visit

WWE superstar CM Punk made a special trip to Celtic Park this afternoon to take a stadium tour, further cementing his affinity for the Hoops. Known as one of the greatest professional wrestlers of all time, Punk is as divisive among wrestling fans as he is loved. However, when it comes to the Glasgow football divide, he has firmly picked his side.

A Wrestling Legend at Paradise

At last year’s Clash at the Castle event, the Chicago native made his allegiance clear by wearing a Celtic top during the post-event press conference. Yesterday, he took to Instagram to share a picture of himself in the Hoops home shirt, proudly holding the WWE Celtic Legacy Championship.

A VIP Tour of Paradise

Today, Punk took things a step further with a special behind-the-scenes tour of Celtic Park. Pitchside at the stadium, he was presented with a Celtic shirt featuring ‘Best in the World 1’ on the back—matching his famous moniker in the wrestling world. The wrestling icon also made sure to visit the Hoops’ legendary trophy room, posing beside all three of Celtic’s domestic trophies which they currently hold.

Speaking to Celtic TV, Punk expressed his admiration for the club: “I just think the history of Celtic is incredible. As much as I’ve tried to do a deep dive into it, being an ignorant American newbie, I’m learning as I go. The first thing that jumps out is the colours. I’m Irish, so green is probably my second favourite colour next to red. Just the history of the team, the rivalry with Rangers—it’s all fascinating.”

A Special Connection to Glasgow

Punk also reflected on his love for Glasgow, a city he has visited many times throughout his wrestling career. “Glasgow has always been one of my favourite destinations. I spent ten years on the road in WWE, doing two European tours a year. We were always in and out of cities so quickly, but Glasgow always stood out to me. I’ve gotten to know the city centre pretty well, and every time I come back, I learn more.”

When asked if he would return to Paradise for a match, Punk responded enthusiastically: “I hope so! It didn’t work out this time, but I’d love to come back for a game. This experience has been amazing, and I want to spend more time here, soak in the atmosphere, and really get to know Scottish football culture.”

CM Punk Celtic

With Punk being one of the most famous wrestlers of all time, there are a number of Celtic supporters who are also huge fans of him, myself included. It was a special moment to see two worlds come together. With Celtic being a club famous across the world, it has now added the “Best in the World” of professional wrestling to its list of supporters.
