Callum McGregor is set to be assessed after he’s missed training this week. He trained alone on Friday and is hopeful to train on Saturday with the rest of his teammates.

Paulo Bernardo is ruled out, with Rodgers has said Liam Scales awaiting potential surgery, while James Forrest is returning to the squad.

Speaking on Friday, Rodgers confirmed that McGregor will be given every chance to prove his fitness, having missed full training this week due to a calf issue.

“We’ve had a good week, so one more day to go. One or two we are just assessing. Callum, obviously, he’s had a similar week to last week, and we’ll make a decision on him tomorrow.”

There was positive news for James Forrest, who is back in the squad, while Paulo Bernardo remains sidelined and won’t be involved.

“Obviously, James Forrest is back in the squad, which is really good. Paulo Bernardo is still a little bit away.”

Meanwhile, Liam Scales remains a doubt, with the defender still waiting to find out if he will require surgery on his cheekbone injury, which he suffered against St Mirren a few weekends ago.

“Liam Scales, he’s obviously had an issue with his cheekbones, so we’re just waiting to finalise whether he needs an operation or not.” [TCW]

Liam Scales dropped out of the team after American defender Auston Trusty settled into life in Glashgow, following his £6 million switch in the summer.

The American has been a good partner to Carter-Vickers, but having a reliable backup like Scales is obviously something Brendan Rodgers would like
