Brendan Rodgers has dismissed any immediate discussion over whether he will be backed financially in the summer transfer window following Celtic’s Champions League campaign.

The Hoops secured over €38 million from their European run this season, and had they beaten Bayern Munich, they would have banked an additional €11 million.
With the club’s latest financial reports showing a £43.9 million pre-tax profit, speculation has already begun over how much of that will be reinvested into the squad.
However, when asked if he had received any assurances from the board about funds being made available, Rodgers shut down the conversation.
“It’s not even a conversation. We have literally finished our Champions League campaign and we will look at that in the summer.” [Celtic TV]
Rodgers has made it clear that he wants to strengthen the squad in January, particularly after losing Kyogo Furuhashi in January without a direct replacement.
Celtic will be looking to add to the squad in the summer rather than replace key players who could leave. Their run in the Champions League could help convince current stars to help Celtic take the next step, as well as encourage targets to make a move to Celtic.
However, for now, his focus is on securing domestic silverware, with Celtic 13 points clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership and still in the hunt for a domestic treble.
Celtic will need to negotiate a Champions League qualifier next season to return to the competition, making a strong summer transfer window more crucial than ever.
