Rodgers Breaks Silence on Celtic’s Lack of Kyogo Replacement

Brendan Rodgers has looked to take the blame away from those at Celtic for failing to sign a replacement for Kyogo in the winter transfer window.

With Kyogo leaving for Rennes 8 days ago for £10 million, supporters were hopeful that the Hoops would reinvest that money in a new striker to support Adam Idah up front. However, that did not materialise.

Rodgers has previously spoken of the need to replace Kyogo immediately, and supporters were looking to see how he would respond to yesterday’s deadline day, with the Irishman attempting to maintain calm across the board when questioned on who was to blame.

He has previously spoken of issues at the club regarding getting players scouted and signed, failing to nail down exactly who was to blame, and he similarly used this tone at this afternoon’s press conference.

Rodgers said: (Celtic FC YouTube), “I don’t really want to be looking back, like I said, I’m not going to become frustrated now and kill my joy of working here every day at the club by thinking of what could’ve been.

“I don’t want to pin blame on anyone here, as a collective it wasn’t ideal how it ended for us, so yeah, we have to, as a club, now go away and look at that.”

Rodgers has clearly matured in his time away from Celtic, no longer being as open to criticise people. Instead, he has shown that he is doing his best and wants what’s best for the club.

Although there are issues with signing players, he is delighted to be back at Celtic and has learned from previous mistakes he felt he made during his first spell at the club.

With the need to improve recruitment and transfer negotiations, Rodgers will be hopeful that this can be addressed before the summer transfer window. However, it has been an issue that has plagued Celtic for years and looks unlikely to be addressed immediately.
