Former Celtic striker Chris Sutton has delivered a scathing assessment of Rangers’ Premiership campaign, claiming Brendan Rodgers and his side are “laughing” at their rivals as the title race appears all but over.

Sutton’s remarks come in the wake of Rangers’ latest stumble—a 1-1 draw against Dundee at Dens Park—that leaves them a staggering 15 points behind Celtic at the top of the table.
Speaking on Sky Sports, Sutton held little back in his criticism of Rangers’ ongoing struggles under manager Philippe Clement, highlighting the enormity of the gap just weeks into the new year.
“Celtic are laughing at them. Brendan Rodgers is cracking open the champagne this evening laughing at them,” Sutton said. “It is an embarrassment that we are in the early part of January and Celtic are 15 points clear at the top. That is shocking. It is amazing.”
Rangers’ woeful away form has played a significant part in their freefall. Since their 3-0 victory over Celtic at the start of January, Clement’s men have failed to record a win on the road, suffering two disappointing draws at Hibernian, and now Dundee after they headed into the derby on the back of a loss to St Mirren and draw to Motherwell.
Meanwhile, Celtic have shown no signs of easing up in their quest for another league title. Brendan Rodgers’ men bounced back from their derby defeat with consecutive wins over St Mirren and Dundee United, reasserting their dominance atop the Premiership table.
Rodgers, who has expertly managed squad rotation amid a gruelling schedule, will now prepare his side for a weekend clash against Ross County, with the opportunity to extend their lead even further.
