Celtic Connection: Jim Goodwin Reflects on Hoops Roots After Dundee United Draw

Jim Goodwin discussed his connection to Celtic past and present this afternoon, having come through the Celtic youth academy.

Goodwin, who spent five years at Celtic, making only one first-team appearance in 2000 in a 2-0 Hoops win against, coincidentally enough, against Dundee United at Celtic Park, who the Irishman is now in charge of.

Goodwin also revealed what the 0-0 draw at Tannadice this afternoon will mean for him after the game with his friends.

He said: (Daily Record),”There was probably far too many people connected to me in the opposition end, so I’m glad that my phone is not going to be buzzing with people having a pop because they managed to trounce us.”

It was certainly a good result for the Irishman, who also popped up with a 1-1 draw at Ibrox against Rangers in November, showing that he is thriving being back in the Scottish Premiership with Dundee United after a season in the Championship

Goodwin grew up supporting Celtic; however, he has always taken every game against the Hoops very seriously.

With his ability to put a structured tactical approach against Celtic, he has proven to be a manager.

Despite criticism over his time at Aberdeen, he has time and time again bounced back.
