Dinamo Zagreb have released a statement addressing the club’s recent form, admitting they’re in ‘crisis’ ahead of Celtic’s upcoming visit to the Maksimir Stadium.
It comes after their struggles continued in a disappointing 1-1 draw with Slaven on Friday evening; the Croatian champions have won just one of their last seven domestic games going into Tuesday’s crucial clash.
Despite their recent poor form, however, Zagreb remain in a positive position in the UEFA Champions League. They are only one point behind Celtic in the league phase, having won two games and drawn another up to this point.

Regardless, ahead of Tuesday, the club released a statement about their current predicament: “The game against Slaven showed we are in a crisis of results which has largely been influenced by injuries to the most high-quality of our first-team players,” it read (RecordSport).
“But there is no crisis within the club. We have funds for the next transfer window. For us, the window has already opened in the search for reinforcements in the agreed positions.
“We will work our way out of this results crisis and return to winning ways. Surrender is not an option in Dinamo’s DNA. Just like in previous seasons, we will get out of our present difficulties together with your support.”
This latest release comes after Dinamo’s players were subject to abuse and hostility from the club’s ultras group, Bad Blue Boys, following their disappointing draw on Friday evening.
They aren’t in a good place ahead of Tuesday, but they shouldn’t be underestimated. Zagreb have respectable pedigree at Champions League level, although the Celts, given their recent form, should rightfully feel confident ahead of the match.
Brendan Rodgers and Co. know a win midweek would all but guarantee them a place in the last-16 play-offs before they turn their focus to the league cup final in what could be a season-defining week for the club.
