Report: Celtic B Team Top Scorer Tracked by Numerous English Clubs

Talk about contracts is heating up at Celtic, with Brendan Rodgers quizzed on two key starts in Friday’s press conference.

Alistair Johnston is seemingly edging closer to a new deal, though the manager said nothing was imminent, and Greg Taylor’s situation is still unresolved.

Daniel Cummings, an 18-year-old striker from the Celtic B team who has been in sensational form this season, also has a contract dwindling down.

Cummings’ contract is set to expire next summer, which has attracted significant interest from clubs south of the border due to the relatively low cross-border compensation rules that would allow English teams to secure his services for just €310,000.

Cummings’ performances this season have been remarkable; he has scored 18 goals in 17 matches across all competitions, including two standout goals against RB Leipzig in the UEFA Youth League, where he is currently the joint second-top scorer. This prolific form has put him on the radar of several English clubs, and with his agency’s extensive network across Europe’s top leagues, the possibility of a move is becoming increasingly real.

Celtic faces a critical juncture in deciding Cummings’ future. As a lifelong fan of the club, there is hope that an agreement for an extension can be reached.

Securing his future would be a great move, ensuring that the Hoops maintain control over one of their brightest young prospects before he becomes the subject of a competitive bidding war in the transfer market.
