BBC Left Red Faced After Premature Celtic Champions League Post

BBC Scotland found themselves in an awkward spot on Tuesday night after tweeting about Celtic’s struggles when conceding first in European competitions, only for the Hoops to turn the game around moments later.

Just six minutes after the tweet—which noted that Celtic had lost 27 of their last 28 European games after falling behind—Nicolas Kuhn equalized, sparking a remarkable 3-1 comeback victory over RB Leipzig.

The timing of the post couldn’t have been worse, as it became outdated almost immediately.

Celtic responded to Christophe Baumgartner’s opener with Kuhn’s brace, the first a stunning effort off the post, followed by a clinical finish from Greg Taylor’s cross before halftime. The electric atmosphere at Parkhead reached new heights when Reo Hatate capitalised on a goalkeeping error from Peter Gulacsi, sealing the win.

The victory not only silenced the premature analysis but also marked Celtic’s third consecutive home win in the Champions League, the second of this season, boosting their points tally to seven from four matches.

With four games still to play, Celtic’s prospects for advancing in the competition are looking more promising, and the team’s resilience on Tuesday showcased their growing maturity on the European stage.

Club Brugge travel to Parkhead in just under three weeks.
