Kyogo Furuhashi Calls For Collective Celtic Effort as Bhoys Head to Bergamo

Kyogo Furuhashi has called upon his Celtic teammates to make a collective effort as they travel to face Atalanta on Wednesday.

After a dismal defeat to Borussia Dortmund on matchday two of the Champions League, the Bhoys go to Bergamo aiming to bounce back. That will be easier said than done, though, especially versus last season’s Europa League winners.

If Celtic are to get a result on Wednesday, they will need to put in their best performance of the season.

They didn’t look entirely convincing at times against Aberdeen on Saturday, but striker Kyogo did.

The Japanese frontman scored one and assisted another in the 2-2 draw, and he has sent a rallying cry to his fellow Celts ahead of midweek.

Kyogo emphasised the need for his teammates to unite while outlining that he will be razor-sharp should he get any opportunities against a stubborn Atalanta backline.

“Individually, definitely, I will have the chances, even though we play against a tough opponent,” he said (RecordSport).

“I just have to be prepared to put the balls into the net, or at least I try to get the shots on target.

“And, as a team, we have to work collectively, whoever is playing from the first minute, whoever is coming on from the bench, we have to share the same ideas, we have to work on it and try to get the result.”

Atalanta warmed up for Wednesday’s match with a comfortable 2-0 victory over Venezia yesterday. Gian Piero Gasperini’s side are in fine fettle heading into the clash.

The match is arguably one of Celtic’s most difficult of the league phase, and while they won’t count on this game to earn points, fans want to avoid another European scalping and see at least some signs of improvement from the Dortmund disaster.
