Former Celtic goalkeeper Pat Bonner has praised Nicholas Kuhn for his decisive late goal in Celtic’s 2-1 victory over Ross County, calling it a “huge moment” for the club’s title aspirations.
Kuhn, who has firmly established himself within Brendan Rodgers’ squad this season, sealed the win in dramatic fashion after Celtic had been trailing for much of the game. Bonner emphasised the key role played by Celtic’s ability to quickly turn defence into attack as Ross County overcommitted in the final stages.
“Ross County pushed up too high, and Celtic punished them,” Bonner told the BBC. “They were high in the corner, pressing for a late chance, but Celtic won the ball back, got out quickly, and countered with precision. It was one penetrating pass, and Kuhn’s finish was superb.”

The German winger raced down the right flank after Alistair Johnston played a cutting ball through the County defence. Kuhn, composed under pressure, slotted the ball into the far corner, securing a vital three points for the Bhoys and maintaining their perfect start to the league season.
Bonner believes moments like these are what define title-winning sides: “That was a huge goal for Celtic, and a huge moment in this championship. Even when they aren’t at their best, they find a way. It’s the hallmark of champions.”
Celtic now look to build on this result as they return to European action, but Kuhn’s match-winning goal will certainly be remembered as a pivotal point in the domestic campaign.
