Three out of five of Brendan Rodgers new signings have cemented down a starting place in the hoops from the moment they arrived at Celtic Park. One of them has a £40 million price tag after just ten SPFL games if you believe the English papers. Scott Sinclair broke a goalscoring record, while his choice for Kolo at centre back brought some sense to a back four that has been absent for years even if he did have a bad game against BMG.
Gamboa is probably the odd one out but Rodgers looks to be pushing to prove himself right with signing him too, while De Vries lookd dead in the water. If three out of five signings turn out to be starters that’s not a bad bit of transfer business. You also need to remember that not a lot of money was spent on these players either. Rodgers has also made two or three players from last season up their game to a level that Celtic fans have not seen before.

This leaves a really tasty and exciting question of what his next few signings will be like and can we have them all in January please. Celtic probably don’t need to spend money in January for any domestic dominance. They have already proved to be too good for the competition and most Celtic fans will be rubbing their hands at the thoughts of domestic silverware this season. The reality still remains though, if Rodgers wants a team he can call his own he might want to recruit as soon as possible. The board might be looking at last seasons empty seats been full every home game and all their sell outs in the Champions League to think they should give the manager what he wants.
Rodgers only had weeks to draw up a shortlist of players and pursue them during the summer, he passed this test with flying colours. So, after nearly six months in the job and with his own people been brought in for scouting purposes, what kind of shopping list is the Celtic manager going to have going into the January window?
January is never a time Celtic impress with new signings but I get the feeling this time around it may be different. Let’s hope the next couple of signings will make the same impact as the first load of recruits. That way Celtic fans can see some real team building and progression probably for the first time in over a decade.
