The veteran will be looking to build on his 105 caps and bounce back from a disappointing European Championships exit at the hands of tournament hosts Germany a few months ago.

Schmeichel will captain his country once more, and play alongside his now ex Hoops teammate Matt O’Riley.

The attack-minded midfielder yesterday completed a record-breaking move to English Premier League outfit Brighton and Hove Albion, penning a five-year deal on the south coast.

It has been a whirlwind few days for the 23-year-old, who has been awarded with a deserved Denmark call-up.

O’Riley should have gone to the Euros with his nation, but Kasper Hjulmund refused to take into consideration his sensational form. Now under new interim boss Morten Wieghorst, he has finally got the call.

Celtic fans will be keeping a close eye on the Dane’s fixtures this international break.
