Kasper Schmeichel is on the brink of joining Celtic, stepping in as the successor to the retired Joe Hart.

The Danish goalkeeper, who has had an illustrious career, including a stint with Leicester City under current Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers, is set to sign a 12-month contract with an option for an additional year, extending until June 2026.
This weekend, Schmeichel is scheduled to undergo a medical with Celtic, with everything else seemingly ironed out. [Tipsbladet]
Despite receiving offers from Saudi Arabian club Al Shabab and the possibility to continue at Anderlecht, where his contract expired this summer, Schmeichel has opted for the Scottish giants, showing a clear preference to reunite with Rodgers and potentially join forces with compatriot Matt O’Riley, although O’Riley’s future at Celtic remains uncertain amid transfer speculations. It’s maybe not the transfer many Celtic fans were expecting, especially given previous links to younger goalkeepers, but he could come in and do a job for a season or two.
