Luis Palma Reviews His First Year at Celtic; Some Fans Might Disagree With His Verdict

Brought in as a marquee summer signing from Greek side Aris Thessaloniki in Greece, Luis Palma’s first year at Celtic has been littered with as many ups as downs.

The Honduran attacker has enjoyed some memorable moments such as his goals in the Champions League against Atletico Madrid and Feyenoord but equally, he has had a few instances to forget.

His duo of penalty misses versus Ross County frustrated many supporters as did his poor clearance in the Scottish Cup semi-final at Hampden a few weeks ago.

Palma showed initial promise but as the season has progressed, he has proved to be more and more frustrating.

There is no getting away from the fact he has registered 19 goal contributions in 34 Celtic appearances but sometimes, numbers don’t tell the whole story.

Supporters have eyes and judge players based on their showings on the pitch which in Palma’s case, haven’t been the greatest for a while.

Despite this, he has hailed his maiden year in Glasgow. “Time has passed very quickly since I first signed for Celtic”, he said (Honduran TV station via RecordSport).

“I think I have adapted quickly and I have played in so many great competitions here. Personally, for me I see it as a great season.”

In fairness to Palma, he did have a tough act to follow in the flamboyant Jota.

In terms of adaption, the number seven has done well but to become a key player for the Hoops in the future, he still has a lot of work to do.
