Stephen McGowan’s Update On Celtic Incomings

Celtic fans are becoming growingly frustrated with the lack of transfer activity regarding incomings at the club. There have been few concrete links to many players in this window, and only one has been brought in the door so far.

Despite this, several areas of the squad need to be addressed, namely striker and left-back. Greg Taylor’s recent injury only heightened the need for the latter to be looked at.

So far, Owen Beck has been the only left-sided full-back to be concretely linked with the Hoops, but he is set to return to Dundee after his Liverpool appearance ruled out a move to Glasgow.

This came as another disappointment for the Parkhead faithful, but Stephen McGowan, who has a reliable track record with Celtic transfers, has provided fans with a positive update.

In the Daily Mail, he wrote that manager Brendan Rodgers is still looking to add a forward and a left-back to his squad. Loans are likely to be the type of deal done, and England is the probable market that will be dipped into.

Although six-month loan deals from South of the border may not encourage many, it is how the current state of affairs regarding transfers lies at the club just now.

One has to wonder what the recruitment team has been up to the past few months for Celtic to be scrambling late in the window for potential deals. They knew there were key areas of the team that needed addressed yet with less than two days to go in January, little has been done.
