Celtic is holding a firm stance on the future of Matt O’Riley.

Celtic received a bid from Atletico Madrid for midfielder Matt O’Riley, comprising a loan with an obligation to buy. Despite the appeal of such a proposal from a top La Liga side, Celtic is reportedly set to reject the offer. Rodgers’ team is in a strong position following O’Riley’s recent four-year contract extension, keeping him at the club until 2027.
CeltsAreHere reported this news earlier, with the Scottish Sun further backing this news up later in the afternoon.
Celtic hero Chris Sutton voiced his opinion on the situation, saying that Celtic shouldn’t even consider selling the midfielder this January, with a title to be won.
O’Riley’s been pivotal in Celtic’s midfield so far this season, if you take his contributions Celtic probably wouldn’t be sitting top.
However, Sutton did admit that O’Riley may well be heading for an exit in the summer.
