Rocco Vata Could Leave Celtic This Month

Serie A’s Bologna has set their sights on Celtic’s promising young talent, Rocco Vata, with plans to make a move during the January transfer period. Their strategy involves negotiating with Celtic to secure a deal for the Republic of Ireland under-21 player, whose current contract with the Scottish champions is set to expire in the summer.

Celtic has yet to begin discussions on extending Vata’s contract, potentially leading to his departure for an estimated £350,000 as training compensation.

CeltsAreHere understands that Rocco Vata would like to leave the bhoys for no other reason than Brendan Rodgers doesn’t feel he’s ready to make the step up to the first team squad. After getting a little game time and some real first team squad time at Lennoxtown under Ange last season, Vata believed he’d be in a much better position this term but after a chat with Rodgers he was told he would return to the B team.

Bologna’s interest in Vata follows their successful acquisition of Lewis Ferguson from Aberdeen. Ferguson, a Scotland international, has risen to become one of Bologna’s key players and their vice-captain. They view Vata as a prospect with significant future potential.

The trend of Italian clubs turning their attention to young Irish talent is growing, largely due to Ireland’s continued membership in the European Union. Other Serie A teams, including Torino and Frosinone, have shown interest in Vata.
