Rodgers Happy with Kyogo Surgery Delay

It is known that Celtic striker Kyogo Furuhashi suffers from an ongoing shoulder issue. Despite this, the Japanese hitman manages to exceed expectations as the months go by.

His strike in the most recent Glasgow derby was something to behold, but according to his manager, he is continually suffering from a niggle.

The only way to solve the problem would be for the 28-year-old to get surgery, but it is not urgent, according to Brendan Rodgers: “His shoulder (is) still the same”, he said (The Sunday Post Print Edition). “He could get it fixed but he’d be out for four months.”

“Listen, if it was something that was desperate then he would have the operation. But it’s not imminent. It may be something he decides to do in three or four years’ time. It’s not desperately needed, otherwise clearly, he would have it done.”

Thankfully for all involved with the club, Kyogo can operate as a top-level striker without getting medical work done. He may need it in years to come but at the minute, he is coping fine without it.

Although his goal record in this campaign so far might not be as prodigious as it was last season, his contributions have proved key at times. His goals have been the difference in both Glasgow derbies in 2023/24 whilst the number eight has bagged twice in the Champions League.

As we move into the second half of the season, Kyogo will aim to improve his tally for the season but continue to bag in the big games and score crucial goals for his side.
