Celtic defender Stephen Welsh was forced off during last weekend’s Glasgow derby through injury. He was replaced on the pitch by Maik Nawrocki, who came in and done himself no harm whatsoever.
The Pole was impressive in his cameo and he started a few days later against St. Mirren, helping his team towards a clean sheet.
Since he came off against Rangers, though, there have been few updates provided on Nawrocki’s defensive teammate. Initially post-match, Brendan Rodgers said that the medical team would see how things panned out over the days following the derby for Welsh.

Now, according to the Daily Mail, the 23-year-old’s shoulder injury isn’t as bad as first feared. This is positive, but the Hoops will be in no shortage of options at central defence post-winter break.
By then, Cameron Carter-Vickers will be back fit with Liam Scales and Nawrocki both available, too. Adding Welsh to the mix brings added depth that Rodgers will gratefully welcome.
