Gustaf Lagerbielke’s move to Celtic hasn’t turned out the way he would have liked it to. The Swedish defender joined the Hoops for just under three million pounds (Transfermarkt) in the summer, but he has failed to nail down a place in the team.
Although he has been a Celtic player for five months now, Lagerbielke has managed to make just eight appearances in all competitions for The Bhoys. It seems as though Brendan Rodgers does in no way rate him.
It was telling that the Irishman completely excluded him from a league matchday squad just days after he scored the winning goal to secure the Hoops’ first Champions League victory in over six years.

Reports surfaced just following his header against Feyenoord that he could be set for the exit door and they have been backed up by The Scottish Sun. They say that Lagerbielke is set to leave permanently, or on loan, in January but depending on the injuries to Cameron Carter-Vickers and Stephen Welsh, he could yet stay.
The 23-year-old arrived in Glasgow with high expectations in the summer. Lagerbielke was billed as one of the top Swedish youngsters but he has not even hit double-figures for Celtic appearances as of yet.
It is a move that has never seemed to work out and if the club can rake in a fee for a player who is in no way held in high regard by gaffer Rodgers, they are making the best out of a bad situation.
