Striker is a position Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers will be keen to sign a player in this January. This is down to the fact that Oh and Kyogo could miss up to five games over the next two months due to their involvement in the Asian Cup.
Bojan Miovski has been mentioned as a potential option for the Hoops, but one man who is taking the cinch Premiership by storm at the minute is Lawrence Shankland. The Scotland internationalist recently scored a dramatic late winner in the Edinburgh Derby and is the league’s leading marksman.
Celtic will have undoubtedly taken notice of Shankland’s form, and they were name-checked by Neil McCann, who works for the player’s representatives: “An English Championship club will come and take him, or a Celtic or a Rangers”, he said (Sportscene via RecordSport). “He could be the difference in the title race this season.”

With the potential unavailabilities that lie ahead for Celtic, they could do with a prolific striking option to come through the door next month. At 28 years of age, Shankland wouldn’t be a long-term option, but he would undoubtedly provide goals in the short term.
Players that have joined Celtic in prior January windows have gone on to have pivotal impacts on title races – Barry Robson, Reo Hatate, and Daizen Maeda to name but a few – meaning who makes the move next month could have a colossal part to play.
