Moi Elyounoussi’s Brilliant Nod to Celtic on Social Media

Moi Elyounoussi was a favourite among the Celtic supporters in his time at the club. The Norwegian internationalist spent two years in Glasgow on loan from Southampton, scoring 24 goals and setting up a further 14 across 67 appearances (Transfermarkt).

Now, he plies his trade for Copenhagen after leaving the Saints at the end of last season. Despite this, he still has a clear adoration for Celtic.

Indeed, on his Instagram account a few days ago, Elyounoussi posted a picture of his son wearing a Celtic shirt that read ‘Daddy 27’ on the back:

The green and white hopped jersey is from the 29-year-old’s second season at Parkhead. Although said campaign was somewhat of a car crash for the club, Elyounoussi managed to stand out.

He bagged 25 goal contributions in 2020/21, and the reluctance of Celtic to go in for the attacker when he was available for free in the summer remains questionable to many fans.

Elyounoussi is proven quality in a green and white shirt and he would have undoubtedly done better for Brendan Rodgers than some of the players who were signed for sizeable fees.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing, however, and the ship has sailed for the quadruple-treble winner to make a return to the champions.
