Liam Scales Refutes Brendan Rodgers Quality Comments

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has long cited a need for the addition of quality to his squad in January, however, defender Liam Scales has refuted such claims.

The Irishman spoke to the media at Lennoxtown on Thursday: “The quality here is brilliant”, he said (Celtic FC on YouTube). “Although we haven’t reached our full potential maybe, the quality and depth in the squad are great. The manager is in charge, and if he needs to make some tweaks in January, then so be it. That’s his choice.”

Scales has backed his teammates and believes the Celtic squad does not need many changes. This goes against what his boss has said in the past.

Rodgers has previously publically criticised his players, and mentioned that fresh blood will be brought in next month. This may strike fear into the hearts of some members of the dressing room who are fighting for a place as it is.

Scales is one of those, but he has kept his spot over the past few months. The centre-back has been a revelation under Rodgers.

Few would have expected the 25-year-old to have turned around his Celtic career the way he has. He deserves vast praise and despite three new centre-halves coming through the door in the summer, Scales remains a regular starter in a team which he believes to be full of quality.
