Celtic were defeated by two goals to one at Rugby Park on Sunday afternoon. It was a disappointing result for the Hoops.
In the lineup, there weren’t many surprises from Brendan Rodgers. Indeed Oh got the nod following on from his brace against Hibs, although former Celt Mark Wilson doesn’t think the South Korean is the backup player his old club needs.
Wilson believes there should be someone better pushing Kyogo. He said (Sky Sports): “I don’t think Oh is proving to be the backup Celtic need at this time. It’s coming up to a year since he’s been at the club and his goalscoring return isn’t great. I think Brendan Rodgers will look to address it. I still think there’s a place at Celtic for Oh but I don’t think he’s the man to really push Kyogo.”

Despite these claims, it is Oh who has forced Kyogo to be dropped in recent weeks. The 22-year-old’s goals-to-minute ratio is next to none and although he didn’t score versus Killie on Sunday, he provides a different dynamic to what his Japanese counterpart does up top.
Celtic will likely sign a striker in January regardless, but Oh’s scoring record in his limited game time and growing ability to force Kyogo onto the bench should in no way be undermined.
