Yosuke Ideguchi has spent the calendar year of 2023 on loan at the Japanese side Avispa Fukuoka. His spell at the club has been rather prosperous, to say the least.
Across the year, Guchi made 32 appearances for Avispa. He helped his side to win the Japanese League Cup and achieve their highest-ever finish in the J. League.
Now as a result of such contributions, the 27-year-old has been nominated for the J. League Player of the Season award. The previous winner of said title was now Celtic midfielder Tomoki Iwata, meaning the Hoops could have Japan’s best players from the last two years in their ranks at the same time.

Guchi, though, could well leave the Hoops in January. Brendan Rodgers has admitted previously that he is eager to trim his squad, and Avispa has expressed their desire to sign the player permanently in the past.
The Irishman, however, is yet to see the Japan internationalist play in green and white. Throughout his reign as Parkhead gaffer, Guchi has been in his homeland. The player’s situation is one to keep an eye on over the coming weeks and months.
