Luis Palma Meets Up with Celtic Icon on International Duty

Celtic star Luis Palma is out on international duty with Honduras this week after having a barnstorming month with the Hoops.

The winger has cemented his place in the starting XI with a string of impressive performances culminating in three assists and a goal against Aberdeen last Saturday.

While away on international duty, Luis has bumped into an old friend and someone Celtic fans know very well – Emilio Izaguirre.

The former Celtic fan favourite took the opportunity to get a picture with Palma exhibiting the past and present of Celtic.

Emilio Izaguirre’s career at Celtic, spanning from 2010 to 2017 and a brief return in 2018-2019, was marked by significant contributions and accolades. The Honduran left-back, signed from Motagua, quickly established himself as a fan favourite, winning the Scottish PFA Players’ Player of the Year and the Celtic Players’ Player of the Year in his debut season (2010-2011). Despite a serious injury in the 2011-2012 season, he made a strong comeback, continuing to play a key role in Celtic’s defence.

Izaguirre was part of a successful period for Celtic, contributing to multiple Scottish Premiership titles, Scottish Cups, and Scottish League Cups. He was known for his consistent performances, work rate, and contribution to the team’s defence and attack.

After leaving Celtic in 2017, he had a stint with Al-Fayha in Saudi Arabia before returning to Celtic for the 2018-2019 season, although his second spell was less prominent. Overall, Izaguirre’s time at Celtic was marked by success and admiration from the club’s supporters, cementing his status as a notable figure in the club’s history.

Luis Palma now has the opportunity to make his own mark on the club, and he’s going about it the right way.
