Celtic’s Alistair Johnston Makes Special Sunday Evening Appearance

Alistair Johnston went back to his roots on Sunday evening as he dropped the puck at the Glasgow Clan hockey match at Braehead arena.

The Celtic defender used to play ice hockey back before he became a professional footballer and being from Canada it’s a sport that’s hugely popular over his side of the world.

Alistair dropped the puck but he didn’t give the home side any luck on the night. The Glasgow Clan were thrashed 7-0 by Cardiff Devils.

Johnstone credits his ice hockey days for the intensity he can play football at.

You won’t meet a friendlier guy off the pitch, but on it, Alistair is a fierce competitor and will get in the face of his opponents if he has too.

The Canadian has almost been at Celtic a year, and has made the right back position his own. He was given the day off against Ross County, Anthony Ralston deputised in his absence and put in a good performance.

Alistair and the rest of his teammates will be getting set to head to Madrid today ahead of their Champions league tie against Atletico on Tuesday evening.
