Brendan Rodgers Refuses to Be Drawn on Celtic Fan Protest

Celtic played out an enthralling Champions League tie with Atletico Madrid on Wednesday evening. Kyogo and Luis Palma got on the scoresheet for the Celts who put in a valiant effort.

The football itself was entertaining and before the match, the home support made the headlines. Around the ground, Palestine flags were widespread.

After the game, however, manager Brendan Rodgers refused to be drawn on the situation. When asked about it in his post-match press conference, he said (Football Scotland): “No, nothing. I’m worrying about the football.”

The Celtic boss is undoubtedly taking a defiant stance on the situation. He doesn’t want to publicly be drawn into matters outside of football because after all, he is a football manager.

This won’t stop Rodgers’ team’s fans from continuing in their unwavering support of the oppressed. Tonight was a prime example of this and despite the club’s wishes, the support’s backing of the Palestinian cause was coherent.
