Celtic drew 2-2 with Atletico Madrid in the Champions League this evening. It was a valiant effort from the bhoys, and Chris Sutton has reacted to the match.
The former Hoops centre-forward said that the Scottish champions were great in the first-half, but they soon faded away.

Sutton also argued Maeda could have been better, and that it was intriguing to note that Oh wasn’t brought on:
Tremendous first half from Celtic but ran out of steam. Not enough belief and bravery in possession in the second half. Brendan not throwing Oh on tells it’s own story. Maeda not clean enough with his link up as a central striker. Atletico really excellent at shithousery…

What the Englishman has said here is hard to argue with. Sutton is usually outright in his views, and tonight is no different.
As well as commenting on the Hoops’ display, he noted that Giorgos Giakoumakis’ presence is missed in games like this:
We shouldn’t look back but I miss Giorgos Giakoumakis and so do Celtic…

It is a hypothetical situation but if the Greek striker was indeed playing, he would have offered an added threat as Rodgers’ men searched for a winner.
One, though, cannot fault the players’ efforts this evening. To a man, the Celts were up to par and the point is a platform for progress before the bhoys head to Madrid next month.
