A host of superstars have come through the doors at Parkhead to play for Celtic. One of those is Virgil van Dijk, a man known as one of the greatest centre-backs in the world right now.
The Dutchman played for the Hoops between 2013 and 2015, and after being appointed Liverpool captain, he has revealed that he has implemented a Hoops tradition at Anfield.
Indeed just before kick-off in matches, the Reds have begun to partake in a huddle. On this, van Dijk said (Daily Record): “It was something that we did when I was a Celtic player and I always liked it because I thought it set the tone for the game and it also gave the crowd a signal that we were ready to go.”

Celtic are known worldwide for the huddle, and the centre-half thinks it has many benefits. He said: “It can also help the atmosphere with it being so close to the match starting, so if our fans want to join in by building up the noise and adding to the sense of anticipation I certainly won’t complain, even if it makes it difficult for me to make myself heard.”
It looks as though the 32-year-old will keep this tradition going for as long as he is captain of Jurgen Klopp’s side. van Dijk clearly sees its benefits, but no huddle will be as iconic as Celtic’s.
