‘If You Go, You Will Come Back’; More Brutal Comments From Boss Of Celtic Target

Celtic were linked with a move for South Korean midfielder Jung Ho-Yeon last week. The 23-year-old plays his football for K. League side Gwangju FC.

The player was said to be keen to move to Europe although his manager looks to have dashed any hopes of a move. After putting down Jung’s quality and saying it’s too early for him to move abroad, the gaffer has hit out with some fresh comments.

The bombardment of Jung from his own boss continued this week. The Gwangju manager said (Daily Record): “It is still too early for Jeong Ho-yeon to go to Celtic. If you want to go, there is nothing you can do. But even if you go, you will come back.”

In Glasgow so far, Jung’s compatriots Kwon, Yang, and Oh have yet to truly stand out. Each player is young, though, and has time to improve.

Similarly, the midfielder is only 23. His manager’s comments have been brutal, but one wonders if he is simply saying this to ensure the South Korean gold medalist stays with his club because, after all, he has played 29 out of his team’s 33 league games this season.

It will be interesting to see how this situation develops, particularly towards the January transfer window. If he does come to Glasgow, Jung will be desperate to prove his Gwangju manager wrong.
