Initially signed from French side Lorient on loan, German centre-back Moritz Jenz went on to spend just half a year with Celtic. In his short time with the club, though, the now 24-year-old was rather impactful.
He impressed on the park but his loan was cut short in January of this year. Recently, though, Jenz has spoken about his and his family’s love for Celtic and Glasgow. He said (The Scottish Sun): “I put my Celtic shirt on for the last game. My son also has a Celtic strip. We miss Scotland so much. Every week or two we speak about the time in Scotland and our friends in Glasgow. Maybe we’ll return sometime to visit or maybe live there, as we really enjoyed the city.”

The player’s son was almost born in Glasgow and had Jenz stayed at the club for a short while longer, he would have been Scottish. On this, he said: “It would have been cool to have a Scottish son. When I was at Celtic, I went to the fan shop and got the classic strip for every month he was growing until the age of two. So he has so many in the house. He comes to the games here wearing it because Wolfsburg play in green and white too.”
It seems as though the man who is now plying his trade for Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga fell in love with Celtic. His departure did come as somewhat of a surprise, but it cannot be denied he is in a prosperous position at the minute.
Still just 24, Jenz still has a long way to go in his career. Glasgow holds a special place in his and his wife’s heart and who knows, this love could be rekindled in years to come should the defender wear the Hoops once more.
