Report: Celtic Flop Offered New Option for Parkhead Exit

Ismaila Soro has yet to appear for Celtic since he started a 3-2 Europa League win over Real Betis at the back end of 2021. Ange Postecoglou didn’t seem to rate the Ivorian, nor has Brendan Rodgers thus far.

Soro has been practically frozen out at the Hoops over the past 18 months and now has been offered an escape route. Football Scotland says that Greek Super League team Atromitos wants him on a loan deal. It is claimed that the club’s manager, Chris Coleman, is a fan of Soro and has given the okay to an approach for him.

This is less than 24 hours after RecordSport reported the midfielder was wanted in Israel after his move to Valenciennes fell through.

The 25-year-old spent the 2022/23 season on loan at Arouca in Portugal, making 30 appearances throughout the campaign. Discussions were held over the termination of his contract when he returned to Parkhead, but a loan deal would work best for Celtic to avoid a payout.

Heading into the final few days of the transfer window, speculation is continually ramping up in Glasgow’s east end. The Hoops will want to bring in several players but also get rid of a fair few, and Soro is one of those.
