Celtic Women Set Up Early-Season Glasgow Derby

Celtic Women have set up an early-season Glasgow derby after defeating Partick thistle in the semi-finals of the Glasgow Cup. It was the Ghirls’ first competitive outing of the 2023/24 season on Wednesday evening and they returned to action with a bang.

In the twelfth minute of the game, the scoring was opened by Caitlin Hayes. Chloe Craig made it two ten minutes later to put Alonso’s side into a rather comfortable position early on. By half time, the Ghirls were still in front and they further extended their advantage on the hour mark, Hayes bagging once more.

The victory was wrapped up with 12 to go by the returning Natalie Ross who made it 4-0 Celtic. In Airdrie, it was a hugely positive evening for the Ghirls. They got back to competitive action and seemed sharp, securing an emphatic victory which has set up a clash with Rangers on Sunday.

Further details of the first Glasgow derby of the season are yet to be confirmed but it is certain Alonso and his side will be aiming for nothing but the victory in order to lay down an early marker to their arch-rivals.
