Who is Celtic Transfer Target Maik Nawrocki?

Maik Nawrocki is a young and talented Polish defender, who would make an excellent addition to Celtic.

The Polish centre-back began his football career at Werder Bremen, starting in the academy in 2017, rising through the age groups. Following this, he was loaned to Warta Poznan, where he only made three appearances. The following season he moved to Legia Warszawa, for a season-long loan. His impressive performance led to his permanent acquisition by Legia Warszawa for a sum of 1.5 million euros.

Nawrocki has participated in 63 top-flight matches throughout his career, scoring six goals and providing four assists. His record also includes ten yellow cards and zero red cards, a testament to his aggressive and passionate style of play with impeccable timing.

He is also used to playing in a team that dominates possession, which suits Celtic.

Nawrocki officially signed with Legia Warszawa on July 1, 2022, and his contract is set to expire on June 30, 2025. This timeline presents an opportune moment for Celtic to consider signing the defender.

Nawrocki’s versatility on the field is another asset, as he is proficient in playing as a centre-back, right-back, and defensive midfielder. This flexibility would be particularly beneficial for Celtic, as he could potentially replace Alistair Johnston during his injury recovery period.

Upon reviewing Nawrocki’s gameplay, it is evident that he is a formidable defender. His exceptional tackling skills and robust physicality suggest that he could be a starting player for Celtic.

Brendan Rodgers’ interest in bringing Nawrocki into the squad could complicate matters for Kobayashi. If Nawrocki becomes Rodgers’ first choice for the starting line-up, or just behind CCV and Starfelt, Kobayashi could be frozen out this season. Should we loan him out?
